We may experience depression in very different ways. For some, it appears as a persistent sense of sadness, emptiness, or emotional numbness; For others, it can take the form of overwhelm, irritability, restlessness, or a growing sense of disconnection from oneself and others. In many cases, depression emerges more subtly through ongoing fatigue, reduced motivation, difficulty concentrating, or a gradual loss of interest and meaning in everyday life. Even tasks that once felt simple may begin to require considerable effort, while relationships, work, or daily responsibilities can start to feel increasingly difficult to manage.
Because depression often leads people to withdraw inwardly, many experience a deep sense of loneliness or feel that others cannot fully understand what they are going through. Hearing others describe similar struggles can therefore be both relieving and grounding. It can help participants recognise patterns in their own experience, reduce shame and self-criticism, and feel less alone in what they are carrying.
All our groups take place in a supportive environment where you are free to participate in the way that feels right for you. Share if you wish, listen quietly, or simply be present. There is no pressure to open up before you are ready. We meet regularly, and over time, the group often becomes a place of recognition and relief. A safe space where things begin to make a little more sense, where new perspectives can emerge naturally, and where you can try out different ways of thinking, feeling, and relating.
